DEAR FRESHMAN ARTICLE- FROM IBK(BUSA VP,MIN CAMPUS)
To my freshmen
Dear freshman, I bet it's so exciting to cross over to a new phase of life and academic pursuits huh? Yup definitely is.
My name is Ibukun and a lot of you might not know me but I'd like you to know and hold dearly these words of advice I'm about to give you.
The key to excellence is diligence- I learned this so much in Babcock university. If you want to achieve great feats in your Academic life, then you have to be committed, dedicated and devoted. You have to be faithful to studying, researching and performing well.
The key to great friendship is Wisdom. You can have friends, your room mates are probably your first friends and then course mates etc. But you must be wise, not every body is a friend and not everybody is like you. So never expect too much, but treat everyone as you would your own family member. You don't owe anybody anything, so always feel comfortable with your own company. Make sure you don't rely on anyone else for your worth.
You might find the rules in Babcock stressful, but trust me these rules will eventually mould you into a greater person. The real world isn't as fun as it looks. And Babcock stays showing us that but because we're young we don't realize it.
Dear freshman, your reputation is gold! Treasure it. Don't be fake, don't do eye service , be yourself and do it well. Be the best version of you!
Dear freshman, save your money! This is the time to be wise , you're on your own now, learn to prioritize!
Dear freshman, you should adopt a very organized life, it helps make everything easy, smooth, and eventually make you ahead of your peers.
Dear freshman , you are not defined by trends. You won't die if you're not the coolest one, guess what? In a few years from now, what's in now might not even be considered cool.
Dear freshman, as important as school is,try to make sure you're always willing to learn new skills, grow in your career path as it will help you to develop yourself, realize your strengths and weaknesses .
Dear freshman , be Humble! You will meet very nice and also very annoying people. Make sure you don't react in a rude manner. Always be in control of your emotions. You might not always have your way sometimes but you can make another persons way yours.
Dear freshman, be accountable ! Always make sure that whatever you do, you're able to confide in your parents ☺️, guardian or a trusted person.
These are some of the stuff I wish I knew before coming to uni, and also stuff I learnt over the years I've been here. Follow these , and I promise that you'd do great. Have an awesome time while you're here. Cherish the moments, but also make sure you're on top of your game everytime. Outdo yourself !
